Step-by-step instructions by model type
Front-load washing machines (Drain pump filter)
First, run a "spin-only" cycle to empty any water from the drum. Lay a dry towel beneath the filter cover (located at the bottom right of the machine) and place a basin nearby to catch residual water.
Press the latch to open the small access door, pull out the small built-in drain hose, remove the plug to drain the water, and then put the plug back in place.
Turn the filter knob counter-clockwise, gently pull out the entire filter assembly, and manually remove large debris such as hair, coins, and lint wrapped around the surface.
Soak the filter in a solution of 40°C warm water and 5ml of neutral dish soap for 5 minutes. Gently brush the mesh in one direction using a soft-bristled brush; for stubborn dirt in crevices, use a cotton swab dipped in white vinegar.
Allow the filter to air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area for 2 hours. Align it with the slot, push it in vertically, and turn it clockwise until you hear a "click" sound, then close the access cover.
Run a rinse cycle without any clothes to verify that drainage is smooth and there are no leaks; the process is then complete.
Top-load washing machines (Inner drum lint filter)
Open the top lid and locate the long or round plastic mesh filter attached to the side wall of the inner drum near the bottom. Gently press the side latch to pop the filter assembly off the drum wall.
Empty out the accumulated lint and debris from the mesh pocket and rinse the mesh directly under running water; for stubborn stains, gently rub with a small amount of baking soda.
After rinsing, let it air dry for 1 hour. Align it with the slot on the drum wall and push it in steadily; you will hear a clicking sound when it is properly installed.
