Cleaning Top-Load (Impeller) Washing Machine Filters
Locate and Remove: Open the top lid and find the clip-on filter housing on the lower-middle section of the inner tub wall; squeeze the latch to release it and pull the filter out.
Deep Cleaning: Empty out debris such as hair, lint, and coins. Gently brush the mesh with a soft-bristled toothbrush. For stubborn grime, soak the filter in warm water (35–40°C) mixed with neutral dish soap for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Reinstall: Allow the filter to air dry naturally, then align it with the slot and snap it firmly into place, ensuring it is properly seated to maintain filtration effectiveness.
Cleaning Front-Load (Drum) Washing Machine Filters
Drainage Pre-treatment: Pry open the small access panel at the bottom right of the machine. Pull out the emergency drain hose to drain any residual water (150–1200ml), then securely plug the hose and push it back into its original position.
Remove the Filter: Turn the filter knob counter-clockwise 3–4 times and pull out the filter assembly; be careful not to use excessive force, which could cause dirty water to splash out.
Clean and Inspect: Brush debris off the filter and manually rotate the pump impeller to ensure no foreign objects are jamming it. Use a cotton swab dipped in white vinegar to wipe away fine hairs trapped in crevices.
Reinstall and Test: After the filter air-dries, align it with the slot and push it in. Turn it clockwise until you feel distinct resistance. Close the access panel, then run a "Spin Only" or "Tub Clean" cycle to check for smooth drainage and any signs of leakage within the first minute.
