Locate the Filter
On the vast majority of front-loading washing machines, the filter is located at the bottom right of the front panel (though a few models place it at the bottom left). It is concealed behind a small square or circular cover, which usually features a slot for a latch or an arrow indicator. Note that on some high-end models, you may need to wait 30 seconds after cutting the power to allow the capacitor to discharge before the cover unlocks and can be opened.
Step-by-Step Removal
Pry Open the Access Cover: Use a coin or a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry at the latch slot on the edge of the cover; it will pop open to reveal the filter assembly inside.
Drain Residual Water: Pull out the black emergency drain hose located behind the cover, remove the plug, and drain all the accumulated water (approximately 0.8–1.2 liters) into a basin. Once drained, reinsert the plug and push the hose back into its original position to prevent a large gush of wastewater when you unscrew the filter later.
Unscrew the Filter: Grasp the black circular knob and slowly rotate it counter-clockwise for 3–4 turns until it is completely loose. Then, steadily pull the entire filter assembly straight out, moving slowly throughout the process to avoid splashing any remaining wastewater.
