Pre-installation Preparation
Verify that the new cartridge model is fully compatible with your shower filter. Remove all outer plastic protective film and inspect the sealing rings at both ends of the cartridge for deformation or cracks.
Shut off the water supply valve to the shower. Turn on the shower for 10 seconds to release residual pressure in the pipes. Have a dry towel and a small basin ready. If the filter housing was recently exposed to hot water, allow it to cool down first to prevent burns.

Step-by-Step Installation
Clean the cartridge chamber: Unscrew the filter housing counter-clockwise and remove the old cartridge. Use a dry towel to thoroughly wipe away limescale and residual impurities from the inner walls of the chamber. Pay special attention to the black O-ring at the chamber opening; ensure it is fully seated in its groove and has not shifted or deteriorated.
Moisten the seals: Wet the O-rings at both ends of the cartridge with clean, warm water. This significantly reduces friction during insertion and prevents the rubber rings from twisting-a common cause of subsequent leaks. This step can prevent 80% of post-installation leakage issues.
Insert the cartridge with correct orientation: Align the cartridge with the water flow direction arrows marked on both the cartridge and the housing. For models with locking tabs, gently rotate the cartridge clockwise until you hear a "click," indicating it is fully locked in place. Ensure the bottom of the cartridge sits flush against the chamber base without tilting or lifting.
Tighten the filter housing: Align the housing with the threads and rotate clockwise. Tighten by hand until you feel significant resistance and can no longer turn it; do not use a wrench to force it, as this could crack the plastic threads. Once hand-tight, apply a little extra force to turn it another quarter-turn; this ensures the O-ring fits evenly against the housing wall, balancing sealing performance with safety. Flush the filter cartridge: Slowly open the inlet angle valve and run a gentle stream of water for 3–5 minutes until the output is completely clear and free of black activated carbon particles. It is normal for a new cartridge to release a small amount of black water initially; proceed with normal use only after it has been thoroughly flushed.
Check for leaks: Carefully inspect the threaded connections throughout the process to ensure there is no seepage or dripping. For models equipped with a smart filter life indicator, press and hold the reset button on the unit for 3–5 seconds to reset the filter usage timer.
