Safety Preparations Before Starting
First, close the angle valve supplying water to the shower to completely cut off the water source. Then, turn on the shower for 10 seconds to release residual pressure in the pipes and prevent splashing when removing the filter.
Have the correct replacement cartridge, a dry towel, and a small basin ready. If you have just taken a hot shower, wait 10 minutes for the filter housing to cool down to avoid burning your hands during disassembly.
Step-by-Step Replacement
Remove the old filter housing: Hold the filter's inlet end steady with one hand and rotate the cartridge housing counter-clockwise with the other. If limescale buildup makes it hard to turn, use a dry towel to improve grip; do not force it with brute strength. Place a small basin underneath to catch any residual water inside the housing.
Remove the old cartridge and clean the housing: Remove the spent cartridge from the housing. Use a dry towel to wipe away limescale and debris from the inner walls. Pay special attention to the black O-ring seal at the opening, ensuring it hasn't fallen off, twisted, or cracked due to aging.
Install the new cartridge and check the orientation: Remove the plastic protective film from the new cartridge. Insert it into the housing following the water flow arrow marked on the cartridge; align the end with the rubber seal toward the water inlet side. Ensure the cartridge is fully seated at the bottom and that the seals at both ends are not misaligned or lifted.
Tighten the housing and reconnect: Align the housing with the threads and rotate clockwise. Tighten by hand until you feel significant resistance and it can no longer turn; do not overtighten with a wrench, as this could crack the plastic threads. If you are concerned about minor leaks, you can wrap the threads with two layers of PTFE (plumber's) tape to improve the seal. Flush to verify the seal: Slowly open the inlet angle valve and run a low-flow stream for 3–5 minutes to completely flush out any residual activated carbon powder from the new filter cartridge, continuing until the water runs perfectly clear. Monitor the filter connections throughout the process to ensure there is no leakage or dripping.
Reset the filter life indicator: For models equipped with a smart filter life indicator, press and hold the reset button on the unit for 3–5 seconds to clear the usage timer from the old cartridge and restart the lifespan tracking for the new one.
